Our Story

We're Jay and Carrie Riesberg, and like so many of the people we meet, our story has been filled with both joy and heartbreak. We've experienced divorce, blended our family, faced financial struggles, walked through loss, celebrated incredible blessings, and leaned on God's grace more times than we can count.

We don't share our story because we've figured life out. We share it because we've seen God's faithfulness in every season, and if our journey can encourage someone else, then every hard chapter has had a purpose.

Carrie grew up in Storm Lake, and Jay grew up in Halbur. Today we're blessed to call Carroll and Central Church home.  We just celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary and have built a life together with our blended family of Levi, Justin, and Kiley.

Over the past 10 years, we've also had the privilege of being foster parents. Opening our home to children who needed love, stability, and a safe place has changed our lives in ways we never expected. We've  led DivorceCare for six of those years and have spent more than a decade walking alongside couples, families and friends  as they've navigated some of life's most difficult seasons.

People sometimes ask what qualifies us to do this,

And honestly... life does.

We don't have degrees hanging on our walls or letters behind our names. What we do have is experience. The kind that comes from living through the hard stuff, asking tough questions, making mistakes, finding grace, and watching God show up again and again.

We've learned through our own divorces. Through blending a family. Through raising kids. Through financial struggles. Through grief. Through victories worth celebrating. Through moments when we had no idea what God was doing.

and looking back, one thing has always remained true.

God has been faithful.

Somewhere along the way, people simply started coming to us. Friends. Couples. Families. They weren't looking for someone who had all the answers. They just wanted someone who understood what they were going through.

That's really how Fire & Grace began.

Not because we set out to start a ministry, but because God kept opening doors. One conversation led to another. One couple became another. Before long, we realized God was using our story to encourage others.

Our heart has always been simple. We want to create a place where people can be real, grow in their faith, strengthen their relationships, and know they don't have to walk through life alone.

Whether we're leading I Love Us, sharing at a church, speaking at a women's event, or simply sitting across the table with a cup of coffee, our prayer is always the same. We hope people leave feeling encouraged, reminded that God hasn't given up on them, and confident that His grace is enough for whatever they're facing.

We definitely don't have all the answers, and we're still learning every day.

But we know this...

God is faithful.

If sharing our story helps someone keep moving forward, then every step of our journey has been worth it.

Welcome to Fire & Grace.

We're so glad you're here.

Our Faith & Values

Jesus is Our Foundation

Everything we do begins with God's Word. We believe the Bible is true, relevant, and still changing lives today. Our hope is that every conversation points people back to Jesus.

Grace Changes Everything

We're not here because we've got life figured out. We're here because we've experienced God's grace in the middle of life's hardest seasons, and we believe that same grace is available to everyone.

Nobody Walks Alone

God never intended for us to do life by ourselves. Whether you're strengthening your marriage, navigating a difficult season, or simply looking for encouragement, we believe healing and growth happen best when we walk together.
